Adult Programming Coordinator (Part-Time)
Job Overview
The Northampton Area Public Library is seeking a creative and extroverted individual for the part-time position of Adult Programming Coordinator. This role is essential to supporting all adults within our community through creative and innovated programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate adult programs that align with community interests and the library’s mission.
- Foster relationships with local organizations, speakers, educators, and businesses to deliver diverse programs.
- Promote programs in coordination with our Marketing Coordinator using a variety of channels (social media, newsletters, flyers, website).
- Manage program logistics: scheduling, setup, AV support, volunteer coordination, and follow-up.
- Track attendance, feedback, and performance metrics; report regularly to administration. (Reports to the Library Director.)
- Monitor and manage programming budgets, including grant funding when applicable.
- Support broader library initiatives and assist with outreach events.
- Stay informed on library trends, community needs, and best practices in adult engagement.
- Manage daily operations at the circulation desk, including assisting patrons and providing basic computer and technology support.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Library Science, Education, Communications, Arts) OR demonstrated experience planning and executing public programs or events
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working with diverse populations
- Proficiency with basic technology (Zoom, Google Workspace/Microsoft Office, social media)
Preferred
- MLS/MLIS or coursework toward degree
- Experience in a public library or nonprofit setting
- Knowledge of marketing tools (e.g., Canva, Constant Contact, Eventbrite)
Schedule & Compensation
- Minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Some evening and weekend hours required.
- $12.00 per hour
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research
- Ability to use a cash register and learn the Evergreen ILS
- Physically able to bend, squat, lift, and carry materials and equipment up to 20 lbs.
- Occasional travel within the community for outreach and partnerships.
- Required clearances: PA Child Abuse History, State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Background Check
- Must complete mandated reporter training upon hire (unless already certified)
