What We Do

The Northampton Area Public Library strives to be a dynamic source of information, services, and programs in an ever-changing community: always something new.  With your help we can continue to make a difference. Learn more and get involved.

Our Impact This Year

The Northampton Area Public Library has always maintained that we have the best and most supportive communities in the Lehigh Valley. Friends and supporters, you continue to prove that statement year after year. In 2023, your donations allowed us to:

  • Increase library card holders and users by 23%. That's 14,067 individuals vs. 11,214.
  • Increase our physical and digital collections by 17% and collection use by 15%.
  • Provide free computer and wireless access to 8,146 individuals on average, or 31% of patrons.
  • Increase the number of children’s computers by 50% (from two to four) through a generous $10,000 donation in honor of James Taylor.
  • Create an easier to navigate website through a generous $2,000 donation from the Behler Family.
  • Drive a total of 1,709.4 miles to reach our seniors and homebound individuals as well as provide outreach in the borough of Bath, Lehigh and Moore Townships, and all our schools

Because of your support, the library has hired a full-time staff member, finally reaching our state staffing requirement for the size of our population (43, 991 individuals). We continue to offer amazing digital resources that allow you to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and eNewspapers. With your support, we’ll continue to provide our communities with necessary services, such as computer and software tutorials through SkillUp PA, Tech Tutoring, and Universal Class.
