Do you remember your first library card? Perhaps it was here at Northampton Area Public Library, where a librarian helped you sound out your name as you carefully signed that little rectangle that opened up entire worlds. Maybe it was the summer reading program that kept your children engaged and learning, or Tech Tutoring with Marty or Dylan that helped you navigate the digital world. It could have been the quiet study space that saw you through college, or the community meeting that brought neighbors together.

Every day, new stories begin within these walls. Last year alone, your Northampton Area Public Library welcomed over 49,950 visitors, checked out almost 73,000 items, hosted 406 programs, and provided free internet access to thousands of community members. Behind each of these numbers is a human story: a child discovering the magic of reading, an elder learning to video call grandchildren, a job seeker accessing resources that lead to employment, a family finding their new favorite tradition at Storytime.

But every great story needs a strong foundation.

Like the items on our shelves, libraries require care, investment, and community support to flourish. While we’re grateful for School District and municipal funding that keeps our doors open, it’s community champions like you who help us transform from simply adequate to truly exceptional.

Stories That Sustain is a new charitable campaign that directly benefits your Northampton Area Public Library. Each year, we invite you to join us by donating what you’re able and/or signing up for a Library card. Now we can offer you the option to donate monthly, yearly, or quarterly. You can spread your giving out over the year or keep your annual donation as you choose.

If you’d like to sign up for an NAPL card, you can do so online here to gain access to e-Books, Audiobooks, Newspapers, Magazines, and our streaming service, Kanopy, or you can visit us in person to gain the online access along with access to all of our physical items.
