GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Memorial Donations and Birthday Books
The library accepts monetary contributions in memory or honor of an individual. Simply bring or mail your monetary donation to the library. When you contribute money, the Library will purchase a book. If you wish, you may inform us of the interests of the honoree and we will purchase a book on that subject. We will place a bookplate in the front of the book listing the donor and the person in whose memory or honor it is.

If you are interested in donating Birthday Books, please follow the same procedure, choosing from a selection of picture books to be used as Birthday Books. If you have any questions, please call the Library at 610-262-7537.

Endowment
The library also accepts monetary contributions for endowment. When the library receives this money, it is placed in a special fund and the interest is used to buy books. When the book is added to the collection, a bookplate is placed in the front of the book listing the name of the fund, for example "Presented through the George and Hattie Schisler Memorial Book Fund, 2010." Please call the library at 610-262-7537 with questions.

Book Donations
The Northampton Area Public Library accepts book donations during our regular operating hours. Please do not leave donations outside the building. We welcome hardcover and paperback books in good condition. We also accept CDs and DVDs. Items may be added to the library collection, or they may be sold to benefit the library. Once donated, books and other items become the property of the library.

The Library is a nonprofit organization, so every donation is tax-deductible. The library will provide a receipt for donated items upon request. Determination of quality and value are the responsibility of the donor alone.

The library cannot accept:

Please examine the books you want to donate. It is difficult to throw books away, but some volumes, because of condition or subject matter, are of no value. Please discard or recycle books in poor condition rather than making the library pay for their removal.

The Theis/Cornfeld Recycling Center accepts books, magazines & newspapers, as well as many other materials.
